With the goal of alleviating the expense related to solid waste management and the removal of hazardous materials resulting from Super Typhoon Yutu, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has allocated $56 million to assist to CNMI complete these activities. The first installment of $565,980.00 has been awarded to the Office of Planning and Development to build management capacity and to form a taskforce consisting of the Department of Public Works and the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality.
